The weekly diary of an actual child minder who we will call "Sue"

Early arrivals greeted and settled. Develop discussion about what we all did at the weekend. Prepare for school run. Car checked over on Sunday and car kit checked and packed ready. Breakfast after school run. Walked G,P and T to shops to buy more craft bits and pencil sharpener. Prepared for lunch. Sharpening crayons and G and P painted models. Pick up M and A from School. Avoid pre-planned road working. Return and tea for all. discussion of each little persons' days activity. Free play. A collected early.

Early arrivals greeted and settled. Insist on tidy hanging area by example. Small toy play until school run. Directly on to pre-school drop-off, then back and breakfast. Experimented with baby  eye contact with various items. Observed limb and head movements. Children collected from School and back for lunch. After lunch H very tired. Settled him and he fell asleep. Entered W in book regarding a bumped head at school. Tea and then A,M and W made cards. No late pickups.

Early arrivals greeted and settled. School run as per normal, return and breakfast. P,G, T and A trip to EG play and painting activities. H to play school and P and G to swimming. T and A for lunch then settled for sleep. Prepare for afternnon activities. Pick up A and M from school. Making models and 3d work. Praise and tidy up. Quite time antil normal pickup by parents/guardians.

Generally

 

Breakfasts at 8.30. Then observation play. H has pre-school in the afternoon whilst A and T were taken to swimming. AK sent home from scool. Rang Mum who arranged to come and collect early. T had a fall which caused a bruise under his eye. Checked and entered in logbook and discussed with parent upon arrival. H and W made cress heads after school. TV then collection.

G and P had playgroup in the morning. Take time to investigate activity planning for next week. AK at home with Mum. Pre-discussion about toys with children. Took t and A shopping for toys. W being dropped off for tea after school. General discussion abouit the week during tea, W encouraged to give a  presentation. Organise and prepare for evening collection.

Continue to develop ideas for practical craft activities. Check resources and materials.  W's request for use of educational software await delivery. Check garden for wind damage and debris.

Continue to develop some formal learning situations for older individuals. Help W with 4 r's.  Selected software for the older children with advice from school.  Children like new activity stuff. Read up about relevant movement by babies and what to watch for. Menu for next week to complete before Wednesday. Pre-preparation of some meals.

General activities with babies.. Attention and involvement Older children responding well to roles of responsibility Stories, Model making and practical tasks involve children well.

Check and observe babies natural limb and head movement as well as eye co-ordination.

Carry out garden risk assessment and intended visited amenities.

Do a check on the progress of intense road work conditions.
